A) Deepest and coldest water is removed from the Pool Main Drain with any debris which has broken the top-water surface-tension and precipitated to the bottom. Anything sinking to the bottom, particularly when the Pool is being cleaned, will descend to the lowest point and the Pool Main Drain.

B) Filtered-water returns to the top of the Pool, just beneath the surface, moving the floating dirt, dust, leaves, insects and debris suspended by the top-water surface-tension, toward the Pool Skimmer(s). Keeping the surface clean prevents water saturation of floating material and its subsequent sinking to the bottom and added cleaning requirements.

OPTIMUM HEATING
A) Warmer, upper-layer water is removed from the Pool Surface Returns to be filtered and heated. By starting with the warmer water, a greater and faster temperature rise is achieved. The upper-water layer is always warmer, especially during daylight hours, due to direct-heating by the Sun.

B) Heated, filtered-water returns to the bottom of the Pool at the deepest point through the Pool Main Drain. Since heat rises, the colder mid-layer water, directly above, is displaced upwards toward the top to be subsequently heated. The less warm upper-layer water loses less heat at the surface than added heated-water, providing greater heating efficiency.

The FlowReversalTM Method*

...works extremely well in conjuction with the pop-up head floor-cleaning systems. In the Normal Flow mode, using the floor-cleaning system with non-heated water only, the debris is efficiently swept downward to the Pool Main Drain, rather than rising upward caused by heated water. Then, in the FlowReversal Mode, the Pool is heated most efficiently.

...is excellent for ozonation (or chemical distribution). Rather than administering the ozone bubbles through the Pool Surface Returns where the short distance to the surface and atmosphere above dissipates the ozone's effectiveness, by using FlowReversal, the ozone is administered at the deepest point through the existing Pool Main Drain.

...is very effective when Pool Covers are used by removing the Sun-heated water trapped just beneath the Pool Cover and returning is to the bottom, and displacing cooler water, upward to be heated more efficiently by the Cover.

...is the perfect adjunct to Solar Panels as the Sun pre-heats the water at the Pool top and then at the Solar Panels to boost the heat even more.

...can be easily automated, initially or retrofit, to operate whenever heat is required by a simple electrical connection to the heat source(s).
